Here at Abide Culture Coffee Roasters, each and every one of our family members has a distinctive smile—maybe a little crooked, or a smirk; quirky, or full on wide grin: extraordinary. Our goal is accomplish that in our roasting: originality. Quality over quantity. Continually learning, testing, and tasting: critiquing. Coffee is extremely diverse: simplicity to complexity. In that respect, we strive to extract the best flavors and aromas from our small batch roasts, handcrafted beans. Brewing shouldn't be any different. It's the notes, the nuances; the minute details that make each bean unique. Bean to Cup. Different brewers allow different extractions which allows different final cups: the yield. Simply put: different brewers allow different aspects. To quote our head roaster: "There is always room for one more brewer."

Coffee perfection is subjective; what might be right for us may not be right for you. Personal preference. What you find perfect for you will be your perfect cup of coffee. Enjoy what you enjoy. Savor the flavor.

Each brewing device can have multiple recipes to bring out different subtleties of the bean. Sweetness. Bitterness. Complexities. One recipe for one bean may or may not work for another. Here lies a starting point; this is not an end-all. A constant work in progress: our Abide Culture brewing guide. A simple tutoring tool. Always learning. Always tasting. Always experimenting. Always playing. We use this guide on a daily basis in the Abide Culture Coffee Lab, for education, and in our kitchen; meticulously fine tuning and grind adjustments: from analyzing roasts to everyday indulging.

Recipes are just bench marks. Tweak that recipe so it becomes yours. And keep tweaking; those subtle details will shine or become mute depending on how you adjust or don't adjust. Yesterday's cup may be exceptional opposed to today's; taste buds are finicky. Daily weather, yes weather, plays a role in how coffee is extracted. Humidity, cold, warmth, and everything in between can—and will—change your extraction. Water temperature and coffee dosing are crucial. Remember: consistency is key. The Coffee Compass is another tool that you can use to dial in your recipes. Create coffee for family and friends. We freely give this to you. Enjoy.

Trust the process; enjoy the journey. Stay Humble. Abide.
